At numerous places in the Quran and the traditions of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) it has been mentioned that a good husband is tantamount to a perfect and best believer of Islam. Allah has given that much of importance to a man who treats his wife well and enjoins a good and happy marriage.
Ofcourse marriage in Islam is going to be successful if there is effort from both sides but today we will be discussing how the BEST believers are born in Allah’s eyes just by having the best behavior towards their wives. There is a tradition of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) who said “The believers who show the most perfect faith are those who have the best behavior, and the best of you are those who are best to their wives.”
Such is the importance of being good to your wives. Being good to them entails behaving with them with honour, respect, love, and treating them well. This means that the husband loves his wife unconditionally, stays away from adultery and all other shameful acts that are to ruin his marriage and remain loyal to his wife along with providing for his children both in material terms as well as their protection. This is the reason that Allah has mentioned in the Quran that the husbands are the protectors and maintainers of women.
Garments of one another, the wives too have their share of responsibilities towards their husbands. They should also ensure kindness and love in their relationship and make sure not to hurt their spouse’s feelings, play blame games or humiliate them. This is a lifetime of togetherness and the quest to become the best believer in Allah’s eyes!
And finally, the believing man should be careful about negative feelings towards his wife. There is a tradition of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in which he says,“Let not a believing man hate a believing woman. If he dislikes a characteristic of hers he will like another.” (Narrated by Aub Huraira). So be the best believer by treating your spouse in the best way!
